‘What Does Adanma Do?’ Is A Questioning Of Self By Self
Artist’s Statement
Sometimes we get into this space of refection, where we’re asked to really evaluate our lives. Is it okay for us? Does it still feel right? Is it what we want? Are we satisfied? Sometimes these questions can also express themselves as, ‘Am I worthy?’ Is what I do enough? Am I valid? Is what I do valid?
This summer I learnt not to take these questions as an offense, not to try fighting them away as an attempt to ‘defend’ my ideas. I learnt to see them as what they are… Questions. And to not be scared of answering them.
Is it okay for us? Yes, it is.
Does it feel right? Yes, it does.
Is it what we want? For right now, yes.
Are we satisfied? Yes, we are.
Am I worthy? Yes, I am.
Is what I do enough? It is.
Am I valid? Yes, I am.
Is what I do valid? Yes, it is.
‘What does Adanma do?’ is a proclamation by self, owning these answers and weaving them to curate a magnificent showcase of self, through art, writing and performance.
