They design contemporary furniture with an African edge, exploring and updating existing crafts. Vogel Design’s uniqueness is based on originality of design and maintaining a premium standard of hand craftsmanship. Their production paradigm includes a high level of handwork alongside embracing new technologies. Their approach includes a combination of machining and finishing by hand. This leaves a tactile quality and imparts warmth and value into the pieces. Good design needs to be followed by the highest quality handwork from their craftsmen, so, naturally, they use the best raw materials that suit the application.

Vogel Design strive for a closed cycle metabolism by designing smaller products that are made from their factory offcuts, minimizing their waste outputs, as well as contributing towards tree planting. Their work is all produced in  their factory in Woodstock, Cape Town. They have a people-oriented approach which includes training new staff from scratch and up-skilling our workforce from handwork to management. Vogel is a family design and maker business run by husband and wife team John & Terri Vogel.
