Design and Law: Legal Basics for Entrepreneurs

Legal Basics for Entrepreneurs with Omaedo Osamor

Introduction
Mbari Uno, in partnership with Samuel and Doxa LP, hosted Design and Law; a fireside chat tailored towards entrepreneurs, and designers – both freelance and corporate entities- to enlighten them on the legal provisions for starting up a design business. This legal workshop was used to bridge the gap between Law and the Design Industry.

Why Design and Law?
Do you offer, receive or engage in design-related services? Have you been wondering about the legal implications of certain aspects of creating and using design? Worry no more as you are not alone. Most entrepreneurs, especially in the creative industries, are faced with the issue of how or where to begin when it comes to the legal aspect of setting up a business. You don’t need to go to law school to be a successful entrepreneur — you just have to learn the essentials so you don’t get caught off guard, which our upcoming Legal Workshop aims to help you achieve.

Training Touchpoints
1. The importance of having a registered legal entity for your design business
2. Intellectual property rights and how to protect same
