‘Release’ by Adanma Nwankwo
Artist’s Statement
Initially, my exhibition was intended to be the documentation of the self-growth journey I have been on, but with all of the works I have done so far, I have realized that I have lost that control. Rather than coining each artwork to reflect the journey, each piece has taken me on a journey of their own- away from what I would expect and into a world that leaves me in awe. The exhibition is just as the name suggests, one of release. One that is unbound by any limitations, ideas or standard, but instead one that is birthed by free-flowing expressionism. I want people to come and experience the works, to experience each piece and step into a journey of their own. I want everyone that comes to the exhibition to leave with something, no matter how little it is. Something moving, inspiring, thought-provoking… and who knows, maybe something even I don’t see in the works.
