Mungo

A homeware textile company based in South Africa, Mungo’s mission is to provide a good quality product that is valued by the end user at the same time as providing employment and skills development to the local community. This is something they strive to do in a non-industrial environment. They are a team of over 60 people, which spans from their production and weaving to admin, marketing and their stores. To do the things they do and in the way that they do them, each person is just as integral in their role as the next. The skills that individuals brought with them to Mungo come from a variety of backgrounds. Many of the weavers have been trained from scratch, and have worked their way up from apprentices to full-fledged machine operators.

They believe strongly that what they create and the manner in which they create it will filter down to the end user and help to improve the world we live in. They’re using the art of weaving in a contemporary manner to create quality products for people to treasure. Ethical trading and integrity underpin their philosophy, they are particular about sourcing quality natural fibres and their fabrics are constructed to last.
