Cheick Diallo

Cheick Diallo is a designer and architect, born in Bamako, Mali and trained in Paris at the School of Architecture of Normandie (Ecole d’Architecture de Normandie). He discovered a passion for design and between 1992 and 1994, he took a course in furniture design at the National School of Industrial Design (Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle).

After graduation, he returned to his hometown of Bamako in Mali to set up his studio, Diallo Design Studio. This is where he and his team of artisans create captivating pieces making use of discarded and recycled materials depicting design consciousness in furniture design, every piece eluding strength, elegance, and an every vibrant African aesthetic. In addition, Diallo derives his inspiration from his country and the culture of his people and is recognized for promoting economic development through his designs in Mali. Cheick Diallo was nominated as Designer of the Year for EDIDA 2014.
