African Design Centre

African Design Centre is founded with a vision to empower budding design enthusiasts with the right tools to help in designing a just, equitable and more sustainable world.

Through classroom lectures and workshops, architectural design is taught to fellows. Under the  guidance of program faculty, Design-Build Projects are also undertaken as a means of practical teaching. Moreover, leading academics will support fellows to pursue research on pressing issues of urbanization, climate change, and social equity.

Hoping to help alleviate a preconceived poverty in his region, Christian Benimana,-Director, African Design Centre- created this initiative. According to him:  “I want to see a shift in the perception of what Africa can achieve. We need to offer a chance for Africans to learn how design can improve people’s lives.”
